Workers at Blue Nile Rolling Mills Ltd have been stunned by the tragic death of 25-year-old Caleb Otieno, who is said to have fallen into a metal boiler while on duty.
No one knows how Mr Otieno wound up in the boiler, where his corpse was entirely liquefied, leaving his colleagues and family in mourning. It’s a mystery. Some of his coworkers said that his entire body had been entangled in the boiler’s muck.
According to reports, some of Mr Otieno’s family believe that their loved one was put into the boiler before his death, while other family members are skeptical of the company’s safety measures.
“The company is not willing to tell us what happened or own up and take responsibility as our brother died within their factory. His colleagues told us that he died after he fell into a boiler. Nothing official has come from his employer,”Mr. John Agwambo, Otieno’s brother
Mr Otieno left Kisumu East for Thika town nearly 10 years ago after finishing his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). He started off as a casual laborer at consumer goods manufacturer, Bidco Africa, where he worked for three years before he got a job at Blue Nile Rolling Mills Ltd. He had worked there for seven years.
